Lollipop (Candy Man #3) by Amy Lane | Audiobook Review

lollipop amy laneLollipop by Amy Lane is a delicious addition to the Candy Man series! I have read all the previous books in the series and was delighted to make Lollipop my first audiobook! Granted it took me a while to get into it. I do a lot of things throughout the day and I just couldn’t figure out a way to listen to it for longer than five minutes here and there. Spring cleaning helped me out there! So I cleaned my house while listening to it! I got addicted and ended up spending NINE hours cleaning just so I could find out what happened!

The narrator did a phenomenal job reading this book! Every character he read as had a different sound, accent, and personality when he read them! It was astounding! Philip Alces is one of the best narrators I’ve heard so far (3 audiobooks later cause yeah, now I’m addicted and my house has never been cleaner).

Ezra was my absolute favorite. Honestly, I really didn’t much care for his character from Rico’s POV. Luckily he redeemed himself within this new book! Boy did he! His life up until meeting Rico and then following Rico was heart breaking. I loathe his father! LOATHE HIM! However, Ezra was amazing when he finally confronted his father. I wanted to jump up and down with happiness. ( I may have done so and tripped and fallen in the kitchen, but I’m not sayin’.) Anyway, the relationship building between Ezra and Miguel was built up perfectly. It felt like a natural progression leading up to their declarations.

Miguel was a splash of amusement added to the book. With his big boisterous family and his funny stories about ex’s he really brought some laughter into Ezra’s dreary world. He really helped build up Ezra’s self esteem and confidence. The two of them really built a great foundation for their relationship and I loved every minute of it!

Honestly in the beginning, I couldn’t get into the audiobook thing but now, now I am a true convert and cannot wait to listen to more of them. Lollipop gets a 5 star rating for its refreshing addition to the series and for the amazing story building. Highly recommend this to anyone who wants to fall into the world of Amy Lane!

Ezra Kellerman flew across the country to see if he had another chance with the man he let slip through his fingers. He didn’t. Rico has moved on, but he doesn’t just leave his ex high and dry. Instead Rico entrusts his family and friends with Ezra’s care. Ezra, confused, hurt, and lost, clings to Rico’s cousin and his boyfriend as the lifelines they are – but their friend, Miguel, is another story.

Miguel Rodriguez had great plans and ambition – but a hearty dose of real life crushed those flat. When Miguel finds himself partially in charge of the befuddled, dreamy, healing Ezra, he’s pretty resentful at first. But Ezra’s placid nature and sincere wonder at the simple life Miguel has taken for granted begin to soften Miguel’s hardened shell. Miguel starts to notice that Ezra isn’t just amazingly sweet – he’s achingly beautiful as well. Suddenly Miguel is fending off every single man on the planet to give Ezra room to get over Rico – while fighting a burning suspicion that the best thing to help Ezra get over his broken heart is Miguel.
